Welcome J.E.B. Stuart High School Families, Faculty, and
Staff!
On behalf of the JEB Stuart PTSA, I would like to take this
opportunity to welcome everyone to what promises to be a productive and
exciting school year at J.E.B. Stuart High School. The purpose of the
PTSA is to support the faculty, staff, parents, and, most especially, our
students.
Your PTSA Executive Committee has been busy developing the
details for activities aimed at enhancing the educational environment for all
of our students. Among our
initiatives for the school year are:
- What’s the 'S'? – The 'S' in PTSA stands for Students. The PTSA is another means to grow
student leadership skills and provide a voice in school affairs. We are seeking student candidates for
the position of “Vice President, Raiders Care” and various PTSA committee positions.
- Kaplan Partnership – A program offering students free access to on-line ACT/SAT/PSAT
tutoring and practice tests; on-site tutoring classes and practice tests; and
free seminars and workshops to introduce parents and students to the college application
and selection process. More information on this initiative will be available here in the next few weeks.
- Strength Through Diversity – Working to draw Stuart’s diverse student populations together for
common volunteer opportunities and to improve overall community understanding.
- Strengthening Stuart’s IB Identity – Increasing awareness of the IB/Middle Years Program by offering
student projects in support of the PTSA with website development and membership
management.
The PTSA new student-run website features details
on PTSA programs and also offers the only complete calendar of events for
Stuart (including school events, test dates, fundraising events, and student
activities). As the site continues to develop you will find must know details
on the IB programs, The Kaplan Partnership, student comments, and much more.
The Stuart PTSA is
constantly adding more information so please bookmark this page and check back
regularly.
In order to be successful, the PTSA needs the support and
involvement of the parents, students and faculty/staff at Stuart. Your first opportunity to show your
support is by becoming a member of the J.E.B. Stuart High School PTSA by
visiting our new on-line registration tool on the PTSA website and joining now.
The second way to show your support will be to participate
in the numerous events and programs that we have planned throughout the year.
Your participation might be that of a committee member, volunteer, or merely as
an attendee. Whatever level of participation you select, your time and
involvement will certainly be appreciated.
Finally, please show your support a third way by providing
us your comments regarding our PTSA efforts or suggestions or ideas for other
potential PTSA initiatives. To facilitate this interaction, all of the PTSA
Executive Board Members are listed on the PTSA website along with contact
information on the About the PTSA page.
We in the PTSA believe that it is of ultimate importance
that we do everything we can to enhance the learning environment of our
students as they truly are our future.
We look forward to working with you this year!
Thank you,
Kate Walter
