Kaplan Options


Kaplan's Free Practice Tests and Workshops

Benefit from Kaplan’s admissions expertise by attending the following events which will be offered at Stuart throughout the year:

REALISTIC PRACTICE TESTS

Full-Length Practice Tests (PSAT, SAT, or ACT*)

A fully-proctored practice PSAT (approx. 2.5 hours), SAT (approx. 4 hrs), or ACT (approx. 3.5 hrs) will show students what to expect in a test-like environment. Students will receive a comprehensive analysis of their performance on the test, detailing individual strengths and weaknesses.

SAT/ACT Combo Practice Test
Was Offered October 13, 2012, January 5, 2013 and April 20, 2013

The 3.5 hour Combo Practice Test helps students decide which testis right for them. Students receive feedback that compares their performance on each of the analogous test sections of the two exams – for example, SAT math section vs. ACT math section. This is a perfect opportunity to experience both tests.

INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS

Test Strategies 101 Workshop (PSAT, SAT or ACT)

During these 1-hour workshops, both parents and students can learn how to score higher on admissions tests using key Kaplan strategies. The format and content of the test are explored, including ways to take advantage of the test format to maximize efficiency on the exam. Various question types are reviewed and answered and students and parents are given a study plan for success. This is an ideal follow-up seminar to an essay workshop or practice test.

Accepted: Getting Into Your First Choice School

This 1-hour workshop is designed to show students and par- ents what college admissions officers expect from applicants’ high school experiences. Topics covered include a variety of admissions policies and the key factors used by admissions officers when making admissions decisions.

SAT or ACT Essay Writing Workshop

In this workshop, students begin by writing a practice essay under timed, test like conditions. They get advice to help them recognize what essay graders are looking for, as well as strate- gies on writing effective essays. Students will receive their graded essays following this 75- minute session. This is an ideal seminar after school or even during junior English classes.

Paying for College 101 Learn More

This 1-hour workshop will include the basics of applying
for financial aid, important dates and terminology, how financial need is determined, and the difference between various award types.

SAT or ACT 10 Question Challenge

In this 1-hour workshop, students will try 10 tough SAT or ACT questions and learn 10 winning strategies to help them succeed on Test Day.

SAT Critical Reading Workshop

Students cite the Critical Reading sections as the most challenging part of the SAT. In this 1-hour workshop, students will get the inside scoop on the skills needed to master the passages in this section.

College Application Essay Workshop

This 1-hour workshop is designed to show students and parents what college admissions officers want to see in an essay. The workshop will examine the types of topics students will encounter, cover the four steps to writing a winning essay, and critique a sample admissions essay.
